Vellum and Die Cuts

Hi guys!
Here's a quick Christmas card I made for the current Addicted to CAS Challenge: Vellum. I've heat embossed my Christmas sentiment (in Finnish) with white powder on vellum -I love the way that looks. The beautiful die cut poinsettia and leaf swirl come form Loll, she sent me a set of these last year and luckily I still have some left for this year's Christmas cards too. :) Thank you Loll, that was such an awesome gift! This post is a quickie, work calls... But have a fun day everyone!

Photo Inspiration at Inkspirational Challenges!

Hi friends!
Two weeks went by and now it's time for another fortnightly Inkspirational Challenge! As you see, we have an inspiration photo for you this time and it's a beautiful, beautiful wreath. Photo inspirations are always so fun -everyone can have their original take on the image so we are expecting many entries... We had an amazing turnout in our Anything Goes Challenge, we had 278 entries in total! Wow!

I created my wreath with a Martha Stewart leaf punch, a Fiskars snowflake punch and some gems. I wanted to have patterned paper for the background so I tried to look for one that would work well with the different greens of the wreath -all the papers are from my left overs box. "Hyvää Joulua" is "Merry Christmas" in Finnish.

Anything Goes at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Hi friends! Time for everyone's favorite, Anything Goes, at Addicted to Stamps and More! We are glad to have Nicecrane Designs sponsoring us again and I've used an adorable image from Nicecrane collage sheet called Born to Be Wild. These images are so cute... And loved by adults and kids, I've tested! :) My card is pretty much a straightforward vintage card -the colors are not very muted though and maybe the twine adds a bit funkier touch than a traditional ribbon would have added. I try to avoid my vintage cards looking too much "grandma style"... But my faves -doilies and lace- are present of course. :)

Autumn Leaves

Hi friends!
The bad news are that I've caught a cold... The good news are that if I can't work or do sports, I can craft, yay! So that's what I've been doing the whole afternoon. :) There's many great challenges with autumn themes at the moment and I'm entering my card to CASology (Autumn) and CASual Fridays (Fall colors and leafs). I was also inspired by the colors of the beautiful inspiration picture at The Shabby Tea Room (Splendor of Fall) but let's see what they think of my pretty clean and simple (and appleless card, I wasn't sure if it was a requirement!) card -I do think it has a shabby feel though!

I began making this card by misting some Stardust mists to my background. I punched two leaves and inked their edges for softer look. I then decided something horizontal was needed and added some cute washi with retro feel. After stamping my sentiment I felt something was still needed so I added some tiny tiny white pearls to my washi -they are a bit hard to see but there's 5 of them on the right side of the leaves. I adhered my piece to the base card and voila -my fall card was done. :)

Time for Addicted To Stamps And More Challenge! Truth being told the time was already 9 hours ago, I'm late with my DT card this week... Sorry about that -some unexpected work related issues came up! We have a really special week at ATSM, the challenge blog is celebrating it's 1st birthday, yay! Congrats ATSM and special thanks to Lovely Kylie who owns the blog and works hard for it. Kylie, you are ace!

This week we want to see projects inspired by the picture above. I remembered my LOTV images when I saw the inspiration pic - I think this image suits well because of the colors, flowers and even a little bee can be found in it! :) This card is really simple, no fancy techniques or anything, like I mentioned before I suddenly got quite busy. However, I like the colors and the image is so beautiful that maybe it doesn't need that much to go with it! Sentiment "Hyvää Juhannusta" means "Happy Midsummer".

I just loved working with these images and I hope you'll like my card as much as I do! The quality in these images is awesome and they are really easy to print out and use. Here's my DT card for the new challenge at Addicted To Stamps And More. This week is an easy one for everyone: our theme is Anything Goes! In my card I used an image from LOTV, I have a full booklet of these floral images, they are stunningly beautiful and you can create cards really fast with them. My May has been an extremely busy month so ready images come in handy at this kind of time! I followed a stepper card tutorial here. I will donate this card to "card raising" for lonely, elderly people -we are trying to collect over 1000 cards to bring joy for senior citizens who live in institutions and don't maybe get too many visitors. I thought happy yellow and beautiful flowers would work fine for the cause!

Keväiset Onnittelut! / Congratulations!

Hello friends!
Here's my card for couple of challenges that I like: Color Throwdown is a quite recent find, at C.R.A.F.T. Challenge I've played along many times and Sweet Sketch Wednesday is a sketch challenge blog that I find really helpful. Sometimes when in need for inspiration it's fun to combine great challenges and see what you end up with! :) My colors are a bit more soft and pastel-like than in the Color Throwdown inspiration photo, I hope that's fine. The biggest struggle was to include white to the color combo, it looked a bit too stark at first with the kraft-tones but now my eye has gotten used to it. :) "Onnea" is Finnish language and means "Congratulations", I think this could be a nice, feminine birthday card. This floral card is my DT-make for Finnish KK Challenge (site in Finnish and needs registration), it's done by following a sketch. I love this LOTV flower image and the best part is I have a whole stack of them, yay! This was a quick and fun card, quite feminine and girly too. :)

Tekniikkakympin Toinen/ Continuing With New Techniques...

Toinen Tekniikkakympin kortti esittelyvuoroon. Jos olet Koukussakorttilainen, kannattaa kyllä osallistua tähän hauskaan haasteeseen, huippukivaa puuhailua! Taustapaperini on tehty tämän videon ohjeilla sillä erotuksella, että kohokuviointivälineeni on Fiskarsin kohokuviolevy ja kohokuviontikahva -hyvin toimi. Kultaisen embossausaineen lisäksi sotkin joukkoon myös vähän DI Walnut Stain embossausjauhetta, kivasti sopi kullan seuraan. :) Minusta lopputuloksesta tuli aika hyvä, näyttää vähän käärmeennahalta! Värimaailma raikastui mukavasti tuolla vaaleansinisellä kehyksellä ja sainpas mukaan muutaman pienen kukankin. Mukavaa viikonlopun jatkoa sinulle!

Yesterday I posted my first card for the "TechniqueTen" challenge that's running on Finnish card making site Koukussa Kortteihin for the month of April. I wasn't too happy about yesterday's card but this one I like! The technique is called "Faux Patina" and you can find the tutorial video here. My dry embossing is done by hand on a Fiskars embossing tool and embossing plate -I think it worked out fine. In addition to the gold embossing powder suggested on the video, I also added some DI Walnut Stain embossing powder with the gold, I quite like the result and it looks a bit like snakeskin to me! :) Thanks for popping by and I hope you are all having the most lovely weekend! 

Addicted To Stamps And More... Sketch Time!

tiedossa on, että tykkään tehdä monen tyylisiä kortteja -välillä taas vähän vintagea. :) Upea neitoseni on päässyt korttiin Addicted To Stamps And More haasteen luonnoksen mukaisesti -luonnos nähtävillä käännöksen jälkeen. Simppeli, kiva, muuntautuu moneen! Klikkaidupas haasteblogiin katsastamaan muiden DT-ladyjen inspiroivat työt, et pety. :) Päällystin 5x7 korttipohjan DCVW:n samettitekstuuri-pintaisella kartongilla, valmiskuvan lisäksi vain Stardust suihkeilla värjäilty kakkupaperi, yksi kukka ja muutama helmi -taustakartonki on niin upea, että halusin antaa sille tilaa. Mukavaa viikon jatkoa sinulle ja toivottavasti osallistut haasteeseemme! Viime viikkoina osallistujamäärät ovat olleet hurjassa nousussa ja on ollut tosi kiva vierailla erilaisissa blogeissa, mielelläni vierailisin juuri sinun luonasi. :)

many of you know that I like to play around with different styles -vintage being one of them! This card follows the sketch at Addicted To Stamps And More, in my DT-card I added a circle to the sketch for extra fun. :) I think that layers and embellishments go well with vintage -mine is really simple though, I wanted to give some room for the velvet-finished cardstock I covered my 5X7 card base with. The doily is sprayed with some Stardust mists to fit the color scheme and that's mainly it, not much more to tell about my card! Päädyin tällä kertaa liilan eri sävyihin ja pidin koristeet aika maltillisina -en halunnut piilottaa kaunista pitsiä ja lisäksi tein yhden ison koristeen embossaamalla Penny Blackin kukan valkoisella pilkkupaperille, samaa paperia näkyy myös kuvan taustalla. Jätin kortin toistaiseksi ilman tekstiä sillä käyttötarkoitus ei ole vielä selvillä. Toivottavasti tulet mukaan haasteeseemme! Time for Addicted To Stamps And More! Our new theme is one of my favorites, vintage! I love vintage images, vintage colors, lace... You name it! I chose a lilac color scheme and am pretty happy how it turned out. The lace was so beautiful that I didn't want to cover it up too much -I just added one big Penny Black flower, embossed with white on the dotty paper that I've used behind the image as well. Vauvanorsu / Baby Elephant

Hitisiläinen, hoksasin, että viime sunnuntaina alkaneen Koukussa Kortteihin haasteen DT-korttini on postaamatta tänne blogin puolelle. Haasteen aiheena on tällä kertaa "suuret elämänmuutokset" -tämä kortti norsuliineineen on vauva-onnitteluihin tarkoitettu. Norsu on ääriviivatarra, ihan söpö tuli kun liimasi tarran kuviopaperille. Sai vähän sillpujakin hyödynnettyä. :) Haastetta on vielä muutama päivä jäljellä joten KK-jäsenet, eikun osallistumaan! Takana on rankka työviikko, olen huomisesta lähtien viikonlopun vapaana, voi ihanaa onnea... Luvassa hiihtoa, askartelua, leffaan menoa ja muuta mukavaa. Kiitos kun kurkkasit korttini!

Here is my DT-card for Finnish Hooked On Cards Challenge (site needs registration). The theme was "life changing events" and I decided to make a card for a baby using this cute elephant -he is a peel-off sticker. I glued him on a piece of paper from my scraps box and just added a doily and some gems. I think this could be for either girl or a boy -the colors are quite unisex. I had a tough week at work and I'm really happy about the coming weekend... I'm also free tomorrow, I've planned some skiing and a little bit crafting, in the evening we go to the movies with hubby. Söpöä Pinksua/ Pretty In Pink

Uulalaa, mikä vaaleanpunainen unelma! Kyseessä on Eemelin megaringin neljäs kortti ja eikös ole harvinaisen hempeää? Vaikka en ole mikäään hempeilyn super-ystävä, olen korttiin tyytyväinen - anoppikin ihastui korttiin niin, että lähti huushollista tämä kortti kassissaan. :) Nyt kohti unten maita, hauskaa viikon alkua kaikille!

Hi friends, I hope you'll like this pink vintage card of mine! It's the fourth card at Eemeli's "mega project" and I quite like how it turned out: I was out of my comfort zone but was able to create something that looked a bit like me after all. My mother-in-law actually liked the card so much that I don't possess it anymore. :) That's all from me now, just a quick post, sleep tight and have a fun beginning of the week!

yllä korttini tämän viikon Muse korttiklubiin. Tämä nyt toista viikkoa käynnissä oleva, hieman erilainen haasteblogi on kovaa vauhtia pääsemässä suosikkieni joukkoon! Tällä viikolla muusana toimi Suzanne ja tässä minun tulkintani. Otin oppia luonnoksesta, kuviopaperista leikatuista kukkasista sekä kirkkaista väreistä. Leimailua ei kortissa ole käytetty lukuunottamatta valkoisella embossattus "kevätterkut"- tekstiä. Aiemmin olen kertonut embossailevani leivänpaahtimen avulla -talomme paloturvallisuudesta huolissaan olleet ilahtuvat kuullessaan, että nykyisin käytössäni on ihan virallinen askarteluun tarkoitettu lämpöpuhallin. :) Kivaa viikonloppua, kiitos kun käväisit!

above is my card for this week's Muse Card Club. This little bit different challenge blog is having it's second week and I believe it's becoming one of my favorites! Suzanne inspired us this week and this is my take on her card: I focused on the sketch, the cheerful colors and flowers which are cut out of designer paper. Apart from the text (Finnish language meaning Spring Greetings) embossed with white, there's no stamping used in this card. Those of you who have been worrying about me burning our house down by embossing with our bread toaster are happy to hear that I now have a proper heat gun! :) Have a fun weekend! 

Sinellin DT Haun Kisatyöt / Cards For Competition...

Heippa! Tässä postauksessa nähtävät kortit ovat kilpailutyöni Sinellin DT-haun toisella kierroksella, jihuuu! Muut kisaajat näet Sinellin blogista. Olin tosi innoissani tullessani valituksi toiselle kiekalle ja tänään sain kortit valmiiksi. Ensimmäisessä kuvassa näet minulle lähetetyt materiaalit: DCWV:n Heartfelt paperikko, huopaa, lankaa, Papermanian pikkuruisia nappeja ja 4 korttipohjaa. Askartelutöiden aiheena tuli olla ystävänpäivä ja töissä sai käyttää ainoastaan Sinellistä saatavia materiaaleja. Minä päätin selvitä mahdollisimman pitkälle pelkällä paketin sisällöllä ja lopulta käytin lisäksi vain Papermanian metallitusseja sekä valkoista geelikynää. Käännöksen jälkeen pääset kuvien kimppuun!

Hiya! In this post you'll see 4 cards made for a DT competition in Finnish crafts supplies store Sinelli. I was super excited to be one of the bloggers they chose for 2nd round -you can see a list of all of us 2nd rounders here. The task was to make craft projects for Valentine's day and to use only supplies that are available in Sinelli. I set a goal to work only with the sent materials and ended up adding just fine tip markers and white gel pen from my own stash. I hope you like my cards and keep fingers crossed for luck! :) 

Ensimmäisessä kortissa tein valkoisesta ja punaisesta huovasta kukkasen täältä löytyvillä ohjeilla. Kukkaruukku on leikattu irti kuviopapereista, kukan keskustaa koristaa pieni nappi ja piirustin kortille myös kehykset.

Tämän kortin sydän on muotoiltu käyttämällä nappipakkauksen kantta sabluunana. Piirsin sydänkannen ääriviivat suoraan korttiin ja asettelin napit sydämen muotoon. Käsialanäyte tuli annettua tässä ja seuraavassa kortissa. :)

Pilvenhattara-kortissa olevan kukkaruusukkeen tein ilman sen kummempaa ohjetta, leikkasin harmaasta huovasta pitkiä suikaleita, jotka taittelin sitten ympyrän muotoon. Nuo napit ovat kaksipuoleisia, söpöjä!

Viimeinen kortti! Tässä on nuo kansainvälisten halausten ja suukkojen x-kirjaimet on tehty käsin ompelemalla -tosin en nyt tiedä voiko kahta pistoa per kuvio paljon ompelemiseksi kutsua! :) O:t on tehty geelikynällä ja paperikon kauniilla papereilla tämäkin kortti tuli valmiiksi. Nyt jälkikäteen ihmettelen, miksen käyttänyt nappeja o-kirjaimina... No, minkäs teet, ensi kerralla sitten. :)

Black And White at Addicted To Stamps And More

Moikka! Värihaasteen aika Addicted To Stamps And More haasteessa. Mustavalkoinen on ihana ja tyylikäs väriyhdistelmä, vaikka helposti synkkä -alunperin tarkoitukseni oli laittaa kullanhohtoinen nauha, mutta onnistuin pilaamaan sen rusettia solmiessa. :) Kortin kaunistus on stanssattu kiekura, jonka olen saanut joskus kortteiluringissä, on jäänyt silloisista askarteluista yli. Mitäs mieltä muuten olette, kun olen kuvannut korttini värillistä taustaa vasten? Onko häiritsevä vai ihan kiva? Sain idean täältä. Minusta toimii aika hyvin! Hi guys! It's time for a color challenge at Addicted To Stamps And More and as you can see from my card, it's black and white! I was first planning to add a golden ribbon to cheer it up a bit but I ended up destroying it in the process, so completely black and white it was then. :) I took the photo against a colored paper -what do you think, does it give a nice touch or should the background always be white? I got my idea from here. I quite like the look! Well, back to the challenge... My card is so simple this time that there's not much to say about it -the swirl is a gift from a stamping friend and the text stamp is WOJ's. This week's Hooked On Cards challenge has a fun color combo: pink-lilac-brown. I wanted to use a vintage image for my DT-card and it was really fun to combine an old image with modern colors. The girls is so cute, a real little beauty! I'll be having busy couple of weeks but I hope I have some time for cards also... We'll see. Have a great week and thanks for popping by!

Niin se joulu lähenee... Mieheni ja minä majoitumme nyt joulun aikaan muutaman yön äitini ystävän asunnossa ja kiitoslahjan kylkeen tein tämän vintagekortin. Suunnittelun kanssa oli aika kiire joten käytin valmista luonnosta Seems A Little Sketchy haasteesta. Nyt kun katson kuvaa, yläkulman helmet ovat yhtäkkiä ihan miten sattuu! Kuvitelkaahan niiden olevan sotilaallisen suorassa rivissä. :)

Tällä kortilla kiitän myös niin kaikkia lukijoitani kuin täällä satunnaisesti vierailevia askarteluhenkisiä ihmisiä. Blogini hiljentyy joulunviettoon noin viikoksi. Toivotan teille mitä ihaninta joulua ja kaikkea hyvää vuodelle 2013!

Not too long time for Christmas anymore... During this Christmas time, my husband and I are sleeping some nights in an apartment belonging to my mum's friend -this is the thank you card I made for her. I was a bit in a hurry when planning the card so I decided to use a sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy to have a good kick start for the project. The other challenges are

Now when I'm looking at my card, the small pearls up on the left are all messed up! You have to imagine they are in a straight line like little soldiers... :)

With this card I want to thank all of You also: all my followers and all the crafty surfers that visit my blog and leave so sweet comments to me. My blog will now have a Christmas holiday for one week or so. Have the most wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2013!

Pitsiunelmia / Lace Dreams

Huomenta ystäväiset!

Minulla on taas ihana kunnia olla It's All About The Vintage And Beauty tämän kertaisen haasteen Guest Designer yhdessä Margen kanssa, jee jee! Haasteen aiheena on "Pitsiunelmia" ja haasteen keston (lähes kuukausi!), säännöt ja osallistumisohjeet löydät haasteblogista -sieltä löytyvät myös vakituisen DT:n upeat pitsi-aiheiset työt. Leimailin korttini taustan My Minds Eyen pitsikuvioleimasimella ja embossasin kuviot valkoisella kohojauheella. En halunnut paljoakaan peittää taustaa joten kortin muut koristukset ovat varsin vähäiset. Käyttämäni kartonki on DCWV:n helmisäiskartonkia, taitaa olla Serenity-lehtiöstä -tykkään noista kartonkilehtiöistä tosi paljon, hyvä hinta-laatusuhde. Saa tehtyä itselle juuri sopivat korttipohjat ja kehystyskartonkia on runsain mitoin. Suosittelen! Hyviä jouluvalmisteluja sinulle -uskon ehtiväni tänne karkuroimaan vielä kerran ennen joulua joten jätän viralliset toivotukset sinne. :)

I, along with Marge, was chosen as Guest Designer for the current challenge at It's All About The Vintage And Beauty Challenge, so fun! The challenge theme is "Lace Dreams". You'll find all the information you need + beautiful DT-inspiration in the challenge blog, go and check it out! I stamped and embossed the background of my card with My mind's Eye's lace stamp and white embossing powder and  didn't want to cover it up too much after that. The cardstock I used is DCWV:s pearlescent cardstock from Serenity stack. I like to use these DCWV cardstock collections: you never run out of framing cardstock and you are able to make card bases of many colors and just the sizes you need. I highly recommend these stacks! That's all from me now... Have fun preparing for Christmas! I think I'll be able to run way to my blog once more before the Christmas Eve so I'll leave the official Christmas wishes there!
