Photo Inkspiration!

Hi friends!
It's time for a fantastic photo inspiration at Inkspirational. Goosh I want to be that woman in the photo! She is gorgeous... And so is her dress! Blue is SO my favorite color at the moment. The Ink DT has made various interpretations on the inspiration pic, please check them out in the challenge blog! Our guest designer this time is Pauline (Cotnob). She has used the perfect stamp for this challenge! Welcome to Inkspirational, Pauline.

When I started to think about my DT card the feathers of the peacock brought this background stamp from Impression Obsession to my mind. I heat embossed it with gold powder and used mists to give it colour -my normal method would have been to sponge the background but I decided I should be brave and give those watery (scary, scary water!!!) mists a chance. In the beginning I didn't like the look but it has grown on me and now I think I'll mist some other backgrounds in the future too! I heat embossed part of an old favorite stamp (see cards I've made with it here) from Crafty Individuals with gold powder and added some lace, ribbon and gems for embellies -this has some vintage-feel I think. When I started making cards vintage was my favorite style and some of my latest cards seem to be leaning to that direction again. There's something in this card that "doesn't do it" for me and I was staring at this for several days... But in the end there was not much else to do but decide it was ready. :)

I wish you all a fun weekend! Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you playing along at Inkspirational!

If Music be the food of love, Play on!

Hi everyone!
We have a new fun challenge for you at TIME OUT Challenges. It's time for Inspired by Words again and here is the sentiment: "If Music be the food of love, Play on". You can take the whole sentiment as your starting point or choose to be inspired by just one word -check out the beautiful DT samples for ideas here! You'll also find out that the talented Rosemary is our guest designer this time and you'll not want to miss the great card she did for us! Welcome to TIME OUT, Rosemary.

My DT card focuses on the word "music" and is a vintage inspired CAS card. The script background is made with a stencil and the stamp is by Chocolate Baroque. The Finnish sentiment comes from Vilda Stamps. Some sponging, pearls and lace... Sweet and simple. The placement of the ribbon is not my favorite thing about this card but it hides an ink smudge... :)

I hope to see you playing along at TIME OUT! Happy crafting!

STAMPlorations Spotlight Project: Tag with Poppies

Hello friends!
Only one post last week but this week I'll have at least 3 posts for you! :) I'll begin with my Spotlight Project for STAMPlorations: it's a tag made with the new Bloom Sketches stamp set. Bloom Sketches is the first bi-monthly stamp club set -read all about the stamp club here!

stmp1061.jpeg

I was inspired by the current Tag You're It! Challenge where Marion Vagg's gorgeous inspiration tag is made out of die cuts. I don't have a die cutting machine so I challenged myself to create  the look with stamps only. There's a photo tutorial on how I made this tag in STAMPlorations blog and I'm also sharing my philosophy for "quick coloring". I'd love you to head on over to STAMPloratios and have a look! Happy crafting everyone!

New Sketch at STAMPlorations

Hi everyone! We have a new sketch challenge for you at STAMPlorations! Click here for the challenge post with amazing inspiration from STAMPlorations Design Team along with our guest designer Carol. Carol created a fun card with the celebration-themed STAMPlorations stamps -you don't want to miss it in her entertaining blog Just Me: c! As you can see from the DT projects, the sketch is very versatile... I can't wait to see what you all create with it!

In my DT card I used the brand new sunflower stamp from the Bloom Sketches stamp set. The set has just been released and it's full of gorgeous blooms and fun sentiments. Before stamping I stenciled all my card pieces lightly with a brick wall stencil (if you are looking for stencils, check out the selection at STAMPlorations store here ). I did my stamping with two inks: first with orange and then with black. I was not very precise with the black ink and did not press the stamp down too hard  -this left some orange peeking through and I got myself two-toned flowers! I sponged the edges with DIs and tried to go for a sort of vintage look. I can't remember when I've done this many layers in a card!

Don't forget that if you've participated in the first sketch challenge of August, enter this current sketch challenge along with our monthly challenge here you have a chance to win an extra prize (photo below). All our challenges have prizes and possibilities to win guest designer spots so let me encourage you to join in the fun at STAMPlorations! Thanks for popping by, happy crafting!

Color Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi everyone!
It's time for a color challenge at Inkspirational again and this time we want to see red, orange and yellow. You can choose two or three of those colors and combine them with black, white, cream and realistic colors for skin, hair and fur. The DT cards are very inspirational so I hope you'll check them out here.

In my DT card I've played with PTI stamps and a stencil. The brick wall is done by stenciling super super super lightly with black soot Distress Ink so it looks grey actually... But I hope I won't be kicked out from the DT for bending the rules lightly. :) I love this PTI set, especially the fun "berries" you can stamp around the leaves -I stamped some black berries too to tie the black sentiment a bit better to the color palette. I hope you like my card and will play along at Inkspirational -our colors are perfect not only for hot summer cards but for cards with autumn feel too! Happy stamping!

CASEing Anita at TIME OUT!

Hi guys!
We are CASEing (With Your Own Twist!) the fabulous Anita at TIME OUT this fortnight. Anita's card is stunning -I believe she has heat embossed her image with white powder and water colored it. The stamp that Anita used reminded me of some border stamps I got as a gift from my friend Sandie when I visited her (and her stamp stash!) in May -border and the sentiment are both from the same set. Thank you Sandie for these fun stamps! I decided to just stamp the borders, not heat emboss, using some nice blue inks. I also flipped Anita's layout and settled for a stamped sentiment. My card is nowhere near as beautiful as Anitas artistic water color wonder but I do love the stamps I used! :) I hope you'd like to join us in CASEing Anita -just click here for the challenge post. There's plenty of DT inspiration for you... And this time Shona from Twine Around is our guest designer. I hope you'll visit her, Anita and our amazing team! Have a nice rest of the week!

Here's Anita's card, read about the details in Anita's blog My Papercraft World:

Stamps and Die Cuts at STAMPlorations!

Hi friends!
It's August and time for a new monthly challenge at STAMPlorations. Click here for the challenge post, there's loads of stunning DT inspiration to be found in the blog! This month we want to see stamps used with die cuts -you don't have to use STAMPlorations stamps but we naturally love to see projects with them. As always there's several prizes on offer at STAMPlorations -all 3 challenges in August have individual prizes and then there's an August Prize Pack for grabs for those who participate all 3 challenges... Don't miss all the fun and chances to win! You could be chosen as guest designer too... This time it's the super talented Karen whose work I admire a lot!

In my DT card I used two STAMPlorations sets: Holiday Hexagons and Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments.

I don't have a die cutting machine but these fun die cut speech bubbles I've got as a prize in a card challenge once. I love the vibrant neon colors! For the hexagons I chose ink colors that matched the bubbles and added some enamel dots as accents. A very simple card that was fun to stamp and fast to make! That's all from me today, have a fun weekend everyone and see you at STAMPlorations!

New Sketch at STAMPlorations!

Hi all!
We have a new sketch for you at STAMPlorations  and it's a fun one! As always, the STAMPlorations DT has made inspirational samples: click here and view all of them! Our guest designer this time is the very, very talented Kim from Art Keeps Me Sane: I love Kim's style and I'm sure you'll too so head on over to her blog and have a look around!

In my DT card I've used two STAMPlorations sets: VIGNETTE: Retro Mod Shapes and Sentiment Builders: Happy. I made 3 tags which are adhered to each other with a brad: you can move them around and have a closer look of the sentiments/flowers of each tag. :) The sentiment in the second tag is "choose". This card was so fun to stamp! I hope I've inspired you to play with your Retro Mod Shapes and Sentiment Builders... And we'll see each other at STAMPlorations! Have a good week everyone!

Use Markers/Pencils at Inkspirational!

Close Up:

Hi friends!
I've had the privilege to choose the challenge theme for the current Inkspirational Challenge and I chose "Use Markers/Pencils". There's many cool techniques you can use markers or pencils for but my favorite is the old-fashioned coloring in... I love my Copics and I wish I had more time to play with them. Always, after a break, it seems to take more tries to get the images to look the way you want... Even the cutest ones like Henry the Mouse from WOJ! Henry is one of my favorite cute images and WOJ has many Henry themed stamps suitable for adults which I find especially fun. I used this particular Henry for creating a tag for wine bottle. The background is recycled paper from a wine gift bag -it has a photo of wine corks in it. The corks inspired me to go with a monochrome brown color palette with a hint of yellow. I framed Henry with stamps from Papertrey Ink. Not much else was needed for the tag: a doily, some ribbon and pearls were all I added. This will be a fun gift I think!

I hope you'll now head on over to Inkspirational challenge blog for the rest of the DT cards -you'll love them! We have a guest designer too: Greta from GG Creations. She has made a lovely card with water color look -check it out! Have a fun weekend everyone!
